Last weeks events

The last few weeks of school are always busy ones!  It's a good thing though because otherwise it would drag by so slow!  Last week we had Lisa Jane Day, and track and field day.  Lisa is a little girl who is battling Leukemia, and this weekend her family and friends were walking the the Curesearch walk.  We held a fundraiser at school and raised money for her team.  Each class also made banners honoring a child with cancer and we held a parade in her honor.  Jolea and Luke's class banner won the first place trophy!

Friday we had track and field day, which is always a fun day!  Jolea and Luke had a great time, and were so excited about the races!  We had to go buy Luke some new fast shoes for the day, and both he and Jolea did great!

And last but not least, Saturday Brea's softball team played in the District 3 tournament.  They ended up bringing home the 3rd place trophy, which was a little disappointing considering they have a great team who could've won the championship.  They just didn't bring their A game that day.  It was pretty sad.  Brea struggled on the mound most of the day, but she did get in some great hits, including a home run!  We are going to the state tournament next month so we'll get em back then!

Didn't take my camera to the softball tournament due to too much dust!!! So i have no pictures from there! :(

This is my story!

Here's the story!  I had my tubes tied back in 2004 after the birth of my youngest son Luke.  At this time, Colt had just finished his treatment and life really seemed to be perfect.  The thought of him passing away was just unthinkable.  Although, honestly I knew how aggressive his cancer was I knew the facts surrounding his diagnosis.  Joey and I were really fighting a spiritual battle.  I really believe the Holy Spirit was telling me not to do it, and I even had a few friends who said don't do it.  I didn't listen and felt like me having this tubal ligation was a declaration of my faith, saying that my son is not going to die.  Well you all know that soon after, Colt relapsed and within 6 months he went home to be with Jesus.  In 2007 we adopted Jolea, and she is absolutely amazing and has brought so much joy to our lives!  Although God wasn't finished there!  We had originally planned to adopt another child from Vietnam, but after much prayer and listening God revealed to us another plan.  The thought of having a tubal reversal had always been far from my plans, but as we know our plans are not always His plans.  Needless to say, on October 15, Colt's birthday!, we called and scheduled the surgery with an amazing Dr. in Houston.  And guess when the date was they could do the surgery?  December 17th, the day Colt was layed to rest.  Confirmation for me!  We were told that everything seemed to be good.  I had good lengths left in my tubes, but of course the risk of tubal pregnancy was very high, and there was also a chance the tubes could become blocked.  So this was the reason we decided not to share until we were actually pregnant.  I didn't want the constant questions of "are you pregnant yet" with the possibility of it not happening.  Obviously, the surgery was a success.  Never in my wildest dreams did I ever visualize myself as a mother to 5!  I was actually skeptical about what people would think, but to my surprise we have only seen excitement and joy from our family and friends so I'm so very thankful for that.  I even had the best phone call from my little 3 year old niece last night telling me how she screamed in the house when she found out!  Jolea and Luke are very excited too, and they were actually very good about keeping the secret of the pregnancy.  Now the surgery was a different story.  I don't know how many people they told about me having surgery to get a baby in my tummy!  I should've been more discreet about it I guess!  Brea is also looking forward to another baby brother or sister, or at least she says so now.  She's going to be such a great helper, and her getting to witness all this is going to be great!  She'll be right by side through this entire thing, and that excites me too!

As far as the pregnancy, all is good.  I had an ultrasound yesterday, and we saw the baby's heart beating.  It was actually beating at 130 beats per minute.  I go back again in 2 weeks for another one.  My Dr. is just wanting to keep a close eye on things for now, and that is fine with me!  I have been a little sick, but of course that comes with it, and Joey doesn't hesitate to remind me of my age!!  The due date is also Brea's birthday!  Do you see a unique pattern with these dates!  How amazing!

Thanks again for all the well wishes!

The word is out!

The word has gotten out, so I guess I should share the news!

I'm sure this is a shock to most of you considering I had a tubal ligation after I had Luke, but hey God had other plans for us!
Here is our little sweety at almost 7 weeks!

I'm planning to share a lot more about why Joey and I decided to do this very soon.  I just didn't want this post to end up being super long!  Right now, we are just soaking up this excitement as a family!  Never in my dreams did I imagine being a Mom to 5!

Happy Mother's Day

As I sit here today on Mother's Day I can't help but light up on the inside.  Luke is sitting here in the living room building a masterpiece out of his blocks, Jolea is in the tub yelling "Mom, do I need to wash my hair, and Brea....well at the moment she is singing some silly song about purple playdo. :)  And my sweet Colt, although he is missing physically, he is here with me in my heart forever.  I love my kids!  I'm so thankful God chose me to be their mother!

We had a great day today.  We went to church this morning, had lunch with my Grandmother and then we came home.  I was just exhausted and it took me all of about 5 minutes before I was sound asleep on the couch.  Joey and the kids were quiet and just let me sleep which was nice. This evening Joey and the kids treated me to a nice dinner out.  I couldn't have asked for a better day.  I hope all of you had a wonderful Mother's Day!  Also, Happy Mother's Day to my Mom, and also my mother in law. Both of you are amazing Mom's and Grandma's!  Love you!

Fox Fest and the 5K!

This weekend was great!  Brea ran the 5K at the fox fest and came in 1st in her age group.  One of her good friends also ran and came in 2nd.  We were so proud of these two girls! Brea's time was 25:32....I think.  She actually ran the first two miles at 13 minutes, but tuckered out on the last mile up hill!  She finished strong though, and ran the entire 3.1 miles!  She loves to run though and has since she was very small.  Here are a few pictures from the day!
